It is with regret that I advise all personnel that retired Assistant Chief Fire Officer Edward (Ted) Harrison (Reg No 1533) passed away on Tuesday 21 February 2012 following a lengthy period of illness.
Ted joined the MFB on 28 November 1958 and retired on 4 January 1988 after serving the Brigade and the Community for almost 30 years. On joining the Brigade he served at Headquarters until he was promoted to Station Officer, in 1966, when he transferred to FS 2 and later FS 48. Promotion to Senior Station Officer, in 1973, saw him return to FS 1 “B” Platoon. A year later he was promoted to District Officer and he transferred to FS 4 “A”. Further promotions resulting in Ted working at the Fire Protection and Training Divisions and Headquarters.
Ted is the father of Station Officer Brad Harrison, Leading Firefighter Jodie Harrison, Angela Keirghery and father in law to Leading Firefighter Greg Keirghery. Messages of condolence can be sent to his daughter, Angela Keirghery, 16 Thelma Avenue, Essendon North, 3041.
