Keith joined the MFB on 26 June 1950 and retired on the 3 July 1992 after 42 years of service to the Brigade and the Community. After his initial training at FS 1, Keith transferred “down South” where he served at FS 29, FS 28, FS 24, FS 27 and FS 25.
On Australia Day, 1991, Keith became the tenth MFB member to be awarded the Australian Fire Service Medal and the first Senior Firefighter to receive the award.
The MFB has a proud tradition of members following in the footsteps of their family and the Arms family is no exception. Keith’s son, Leading Firefighter Graeme Arms, has carried on this tradition and is currently stationed at Headquarters in the Equipment and Resource Management Department.
