It is with regret that I advise all personnel that Retired Senior Firefighter Peter HESLOP (Reg No 417) passed away on the 10 August last after a lengthy battle with illness.
Peter joined the MFB on 4 March 1950 and retired on 23 May 1985 after serving the Brigade and the Community for over 35 years. After serving at FS 1 Peter transferred to the former FS 52 (Essendon) where he spent the remainder of his career.
Unfortunately, Peter sustained serious burn injuries at a fire, during this time, and was on sick leave for an extended period. Not a person to give up; he overcame these injuries and was able to continue working until his retirement.
